Bloke in a yellow jersey riding a chris Boardman i think, jees he RLJed at anson /birchfields road and then at the bottom of birchfields weaving and squeezing amongst the cars to force his way onto the roundabout, which is the most dangerours duble roundabout around. Not a roundabout to filter to the front on I assure you.
I think this feller was trying to get away from me cos i overtook him on anson road, fair play but dont risk your life m8!!

Older gent in a red jersey riding a ribble couldnt believe it either, shoking stuff!!!

Not good, my grounds when in town. That double RB, you take and OWN the lanes and follow the cars round......

RLJ'ing at Birchfields - crikey..busy cross roads ....

I think you are right about a roadie being passed by a fixed...... I passed a 'Wills Wheels' rider (full kit) on a Boardman last week - he didn't like it, despite me being on one of Wills fixed bikes, and I said a cheery hello..... fortunately for him I wasn't on the road bikes..... might drop Will a quick email - he may get some mileage at the club meetings....

I can only assume this guy was not happy i passed him on anson road, and i passed him fast too , he then jibbed me at the lights and me and the older guy drafted him a little further down, if i had been on the geared bike I would have left him for dust. This guys three rear pockets were full with stuff and his top was dirty too ;)

Th older guy had a white goatee, red jersey and blue ribble winter trainer, he was quick, I would guess a club rider.

Dirty tops..oh no... !!!!

Roadies, despite you being on a road oriented bike (and you are usually obviously a roadie), don't like fixed (PS no fixie trash) going past, the fact that you kick there ass.......

Like you say, if you can pass a road bike on your fixed, you'd trounce them on the road bike....

I thought it was funny this guy took umbridge, as I was riding one of the club's sponsors bikes, and the fact I've known the shop owner/sponsor for many many years....since we were young riders......... I'd have thought he'd have said 'hello'

A few weeks ago I saw some old blunt in his yellow jersey going through lights. When I passed him and commented on his poor behaviour he stood on his pedals to keep up for 100 yards or so, and puffing away told me how I wasn't the one to be telling him the rules. I laughed and waved bye bye.

The twats are out in force this year - bloke on a roadie with grey shorts is going to come to a bad end if he keeps RLJing along Oxford Road.

This guy is bad news for cyclists too, as he blows through the reds regardless of whether you're crossing his path on green or not.

Although today the motons were spectacularly poorly behaved as well - not had so many lousy overtakes and so much impatience in a long while.

There was someone yesterday morning along Oxford Road in Rusholme, morning rush-hour (and it was busy yesterday morning! First day of term!) on the outside of the busses in the bit where there's already a cycle lane on the left hand side. Most of the time he was pedalling into oncoming traffic. The road there is just about wide enough for a bus and a cyclist (said cyclist in the cycle lane) but is most definitely NOT wide enough for a cyclist in the cycle lane, a bus, and another cyclist on the right hand side!

you're screwed whichever side you choose, I would probably opt for the outside too to be honest but wouldn't ride into oncoming traffic.
That stretch of road has islands all along though offering some protection at intervals.
I try to avoid that stretch anyway when I go that way, would be better taking detour down anson road.

It depends how much space there is on the off-side, but that is usually the best place to overtake. Just because there's a cycle lane on the nearside doesn't make it wise to use it. Undertaking leads to the undertakers, after all.

You mean the mini roundabout and then the main roundabout you come across when you carry on to Kingsway?

Not really what I would call a double roundabout. Was just curious as to why you think that roundabout is so dangerous?

I do that roundabout everyday and have never had a problem. However the roundabout on the A6 near the Apollo,is what I call a dangerous roundabout!

that stretch of road especially coming out of town is really bad, full of buses pulling in/out suddenly across the cycle lanes, lots of parking with people pulling in and out without checking their mirrors, always heavy with traffic, boy racers and private hire cars. Mornings aren't as bad.

ok maybe not a double roundabout but as near as you can get, i think it is dangerous if you rush into it squeezing between cars etc, especially if you will be going right down the kingsway, there is very little space and people tend to take risks there. Still if you take it every day and take it well then it will be straight forward.
I do the roundabout at the appolo all the time too and it is frightening

You can't squeeze round it - you have to be part of the traffic - that guy sounded like he was squeezing through - just sit in the middle of the lane and ride like traffic, and that includes waiting your turn.

I think it's because I go against the flow of traffic i.e. head into town in the evening. I never even really have to slow down much as most traffic is heading out of town and clear the path for me!

TBH thinking about it I don't even come up against standing traffic either. Was just interested if you had any experiences / observations that might help avoid an accident in the future.
