A pheasant ran out in front of my car in leafy North Yorkshire and damaged the grille after I clouted it at about 30mph.
Damaged the pheasant, too, but they are a hazard to road users in parts of the countryside where there is a shoot nearby.
Edited to correct spellingI think they're feeders, for peasants and the like....
I think the Duke of Northumberland has some land round here for that purpose.
There is a road that is a short cut to Powburn, from the top of Alnwick moor, where the pheasants like to perch on top of the wall next to the road, waiting for any unsuspecting driver / cyclist to come along.

That's a farmer's idea of a hot tubOn quite a few of our cycling / driving trips around Northumberland, I have been noticing that some fields have blue bins near the perimeter. Today I finally managed to get a photo of one.
