awwww...you edited it - now my joke doesn't work

At school (aged 6ish upwards) I was good at reading but terrible at spelling. Sadly it's not got much better.

Strange thing
when I was a teacher I had to train the kids to NEVER ask me if a word was spelt correctly
they had to ask me how to spell it - or ask me to write it down

if I saw how they had spelt it I would know it was wrong but often not know the right spelling now I had seen it wrong

same with ties
a TA (teaching Assistant) brought a young boy up to my room because he had accidentally taken his tie off for PE
he normally just loosened it so it would go over his head and could be put back the same way

and I was the only male teacher around at the time

so I tried to tie his tie foe him and just couldn;t because I was doing it backwards to me

so I tried to do it from behind him - still couldn;t

so I tried taking my own tie off and re-doing it

AND COULDN'T

I had to tie it the original way I was taught when I was 4 and starting to go to school

but I had not used that knot for about 50 years!!!
still remembered the old one
couldn;t remember the one I had used for about 50 years instead!!

human brains are weird (OK OK OK - mine is anyway)

BTW - I could do it again that evening
and in case you are asking - I made the knot up myself because I was annoyed that the version I had been taught was not symmetrical
so I don;t know what it is called

In my previous job, there was a phone number I had to call multiple times in the average day. I could pick up the receiver and dial it without even looking at the dial pad on the phone.

The bizarre thing was that if I tried to dial the number slowly, or if someone asked me what the number was, I could never remember it
