Any ideas for cheaper holidays?

Far more interesting to buy a one way ticket somewhere distant. Local buses and hostels soon make it much cheaper than Europe and far more interesting. When ready, seen enough buy a one way ticket home. Couple of months is a good start but chose somewhere interesting and you'll likely be staying longer (I only came back after 4 months in Peru, Bolivia when my Mum urgently needed to go to (medical) consultant and refused to go unless I took her).

What if you have to work and have a finite amount of holiday or like most an employer than restricts the length of a single period of AL?
Maybe the OP can't just take a couple of months away

Sleep in a different bedroom.
Different, smaller, rough towels in the bathroom.
Wear the same pants 3 days.
Rinse clothes out and leave them to dry in the bathroom.
Have different tea bags and milk and sugar in little sachets

Make bad sandwiches and go out cycling a lot

I took it OP had Oct, Nov so even a couple of months you can cover some interesting stuff.

The OP said that they were thinking of taking a trip around that time, but with no suggestion it might be for the whole of that time. And later on the first page, said they would be going for a week.
