But don't they all get watched by 'big brother'?🤔

Probably

I like my Chromebook. It does everything I need. (I do still have access to Windows devices for the odd times I do want to use Office applications.) My only gripe with my Chromebook is that if I'm on a Zoom call and have too much open at once my Chromebooks tells me I don't have enough memory and I can't hear the other participants. Oh and when it switches to battery saver it does so abruptly and the screen goes very dark.

I am changing my opinion on Chromebooks. Things I can do easily on Windows I can't do on Chromebooks. Just now I wanted to print off an email, and I cannot work out to do it. I find Linux easier. Shame, because the screen on my Windows laptop is bust.

Quick thread resurrection - my Lenovo ip duet 5 Chromebook has got quite flaky recently and the magnetic detachable keyboard has stopped attaching and stopped working. it's bad timing because I'm 10 days away from my major brain surgery...

I never used the Chromebook as a tablet and would like to get a fairy small replacement to use most of the time, preferably one from a physical store so that I can check how it looks and feels.

I can hook it up to a large monitor when I need a bigger display.

Any ideas of the best make/model to get and the cheapest place to eyeball it to check it's look and feel?

Thanks in advance.

No idea what's good these days - I'm still using an older Acer and a slightly newer Lenovo.
Probably the best place to actually see one before buying is Currys or possibly John Lewis.
