Well I might be pushing my luck a bit calling myself a skater, but when my 3 year old got a scooter I needed some way of keeping up with her so I got my skateboard out of the loft and 'tried again'.
I haven't skated much since I was a teenager, and that was skating in a village that had nothing but loose gravel roads so the opportunities to perfect the art were somewhat limited. Yesterday I went back to the village where I grew up and they now have a skate park, so much to my daughter's bemusement and my wife's alarm I decided to have a crack at the ramps.
I'm amazed at how much fun I had on four wheels! If that place existed when I was was a teen I'd be a much better skater than I am now (as a 'nearly 40-something'), but I dare say I would be a lot more broken.
So are there any other skate 'kids' here? I'm tempted to buy a modern skateboard, one that weighs less than a baby elephant and is smaller than a family estate car. I might even finally get around to learning to ollie!
