I made one the same way back in 1968 or so. We used to hurtle down on our stomachs though - I'm not sure it occurred to us that we could stand up.I made my own when I was a kid, it was a plank of wood with rollerskate wheels, I cut the corners off the front to make it more aerodynamic. It worked really well, we used to fire down the road we lived on all the time, some miserable old **** complained to my dad once that 'every time I look out of my window I see your kids on their skateboards', my dad told him not to look out of his window then, when he continued complaining dad told him to piss off.
Had a go this year on holiday, I couldn't make the bloody thing work at all!
So all of who used to skate never actually got rid of our boards? Sounds like we might need a 'show us your deck' thread![]()
Not Dusty Springfield then, like me?This was what I lusted after as a kid..

I rode a bit in the seventies. The alley cat was the UK board to have. Black deck with yellow or red wheels. My son is now after what he calls a penny board which looks remarkably like a 70's board.
I haven't been on a deck since 1989 when I was hit by a car and shattered my hip, thigh and pelvis. Good to see you back on four wheels and remember that your never too old to sk8
