I did the Uttoxeter half many moons ago in 1.19.03. Does it still have that climb in it about half way through the race? Finished on the racecourse if I remember right.

A few of my club members doing it today, don't think they'll be many PBs given the temperature. Good luck to anyone running today.

44 years of running and I still get pre event nerves no matter the distance. I ran 6 days a week for decades with Sunday being my long run day, my subconscious must have taken over as I always had the urge for a second visit to the bog before heading out.
Yep, run over 2,200 miles a year on average and a local 5k gets me nervous 🤷‍♂️

It was brutal. I was trying to run to a schedule for 1:29 but slipped to 1:31:42 in the end. I’m rubbish at running downhill, but it was the heat that did for me.

That is a very very impressive time for that course. That would have got you third place today.

Did Boddington ( Gloucester) 50k many years ago. They put back the start as some of the elite runners were apparently stuck in traffic. By the time the race started it was heating up, and the late start meant we were running in the hottest part of the day 28-30 degrees. No shade to speak of, and being a AAA championship event you could only take refreshments in a specific area. Quite a few DNF due to the heat. Me being a bit of a plodder took it steady and finished ok.

I'm quite happy around 1.48 / 2hrs tbh. 2.20 at Carsington in 32 degrees nearly killed me though. I am nearly 60 though.

In my headbanger days I ran the SLH 30 which kicked off at 2:00 pm from the car park of the Tudor Rose in Old Coulsden, grabbed a couple of pints of Guinness post run then travelled back to Poole before being picked up in the early hours and heading up to compete in the Bolton Marathon. Legs were really sore and I couldn't seem to alter my pace but got round in a half decent time considering.

I ran the Bolton Marathon one year,I passed Jimmy Saville ! a more satisfying pass was David Bedford (remember him?) It was about 20 mile and he was obviously having a bad one as he was walking.

iirc the year I did Bolton ( 85 / 86 ?) Saville was " running " surrounded by a cohort of minders and several women. I remember David Bedford a great athlete 😎
My only "claim to fame " was overtaking Nigel Mansell and crossing the finish line ahead of him at the Silverstone circuit.
To be fair, we were both on foot, it was a half Marathon and Nigel who was raising money for a charity had put on a pound or two 😁

It was 1981 when I ran it, my first marathon, not my favourite distance, I finished in 3:31:50, I later improved this in the Rotherham Marathon to 3:21, but it's the only two I ran, I preffered shorter distances, Fell running and Orienteering.
With a PB of 1:21 for a half marathon you would think my marathon times would be quicker, but I was never comfortable with the extra distance on the road, although I have run further off road.
I keep trying shorter runs and would love to get back into a running routine, albeit shorter distances, but I seem to be prone to sciatica so am very cautious, if you've ever had sciatica you will know why.
