I'm going to do a bit of sightseeing with the family next saturday and thought the best way would be to park the car near a tube station and travel by tube to buck palace etc. I'm coming into London from the M4. Any ideas where i could park the car up for the day near a station??

Any suggestions appreciated.

You can park either on one of the side streets behind Osterly at the weekend or in the car park at Osterley or Hounslow East for about £2. You can also park next to Ravenscourt Park station for free at weekends, or South Parade near Turnham Green.

If you drive into Hammersmith, many of the streets are free to park in over the weekend. Failing that, you can park above the Kings Walk shopping centre in the NCP and park for 4 hours for about £2 which is a 2 minute walk from Hammersmith Broadway tube station (get a day saver ticket)

If you really want to see some colour, take a drive north from there for about 4 miles to Camden Lock where the market is huge and a real experience - you can park above it in Morrisons free for a couple of hours as well (say hi to spinners whilst you are there  ) as well as Portobello rd in Notting hill foe another big street market and a couple of cycle shops along the way.

Osterley is a good suggestion, lots of parking there....

Plenty of single yellow lines more central are OK to park on at the weekend too...

He's a Yorkshireman, no doubt it'll be straight in the nearest real ale boozer and settle down for the day while the wife and kids bugger off round the shops!

Warwick road in Ealing near Ealing common station fairly easy to get to off the a4 you must approach from the mini roundabout. Have a google map

Now THAT's a good idea

I'll look up your suggestions on multimap.com and hopefully they will be OK.

Thanks for all the suggestions

Don't think about doing the zoo, it's a run down disgrace these days. (Not an animal welfare point, purely as value for money).

When ever I go to London I always park at Stanmore tube and buy a day ticket for the underground - great if you're coming down the M1 but not a good idea from the M4, so not much help to you.

or another alternative is to come in on the A40 and off at Hillingdon which is next to the tube station (piccadilly & metropolitan lines) and this will take you into London

as the velvet curtain says Stanmore station on the jubilee line is a good alternative

whatever you do dont park up near Hammersmith next weekend as both Fulham football club and my team QPR are at home that day and you are guaranteed to get traffic !!!!

Yes - the place will be packed with police vans. ;)
