Anyone commuting with hub gears?

I've used various SA hubs, AW, AM and SRC3. The older two are oiled so never need opening up and are very low maintenance. The SRC3 is greased (three types!) and needs a full stripdown and rebuild every two years. SA say every year but they stay clean inside for longer than that. I gave up on the SRC3 when Old Bike Trader stopped selling spares; Derek is ill, sadly. Since a rebuild takes half a day, you want new ball races and dust caps every time. The modern SA hubs also have poor sealing on the large 24-ball race under the driver, which gets full of grit.
