Still using bib shorts and knee warmers - but it was a bit nippy last night, especially in the driving rain we had last night in Glasgow.

My Commute is fairly short so I just wear my work trousers on general rides. I've been wearing bibs, 3/4 bibs or full length tights depending on the weather its been very changeable of yet.

I'm 6ft, 20 stone and 44 inch waist.

I can't find any that fit. 3/4 length would be good, but for now I'm just having to put up with a cold bum crack (top clothes not long enough).

I have some Helly Hansen Lightweight ones over which I wear standard jogging bottoms or Altura waterproof overtrousers. I dont tend to wear shorts, even in summer, might do next year as long as I can avoid leg/road interfaces.

I wear a roll neck skiing top with my Altura Nigthvision over the top, keeps me pretty much at the right temperature on the way in, on the way home I just leave my work shirt on.

My gloves are Crap Aldi 3 quid jobs for warmer mornings, same for the cold but with some thermal liners though I am open to suggestions for better ones ?

Does anyone give much consideration to protection in the event of falling off, I do prefer to have some protection to try and minimise damage, ok, a Range Rover Sport isnt going to be stopped by some material but I would rather rip cheap jogging pants than skin.

Yep, shave your legs....;) Seriously though, would a lycra pair of tights actually save you from road rash? Maybe in a little spill but I doubt it on a fast descent.

Winter tights are made from heavier duty fabrics and can def take the edge off road rash.

Nope, cycled in wearing shorts and a long sleeved top this morning. I have however resorted to wearing my long fingered gloves and skull cap in the mornings. I hate cold ears and fingers.

You've just put me off my lunch!

I'm in long trousers now (haven't quite graduated to the proper cycling gear). 7 deg is definitely cold enough to pack the shorts away.

P.S. If anybody's got any links to places which sell cycling wear for the larger gentlemen, It would be appreciated.

I've looked at places like Wiggle etc, but they stop at "tubby" and don't get as far as "fat bloke".

Perhaps selling lycra to fat blokes is illegal (or should be) ;)

Knee warmers with Adidas tights, cheap cycle shorts, long sleeve base layer, full-finger lightweight gloves and a Lowe Alpine Mountain Cap + an Altura shell over the top. Bit warm at the end of the commute but mine is so short that I don't mind being too warm at the end of it.
