I do like the longer hours of daylight in the Summer but I don't do heat too well. Spring/ Autumn for me, and I've had some good Winter rides too.

We rarely get very hot days here, around 22C max, I guess.
It can feel hotter if the sun is out, I mean a hot day here doesn't mean it's also a sunny day, that's Scotland's weather for you.
If I'm not at work, I prefer to garden on very hot days, although I will still cycle to work.
I can ride my bike in the perpetual Scottish drizzle, but I cannot do any gardening when it's wet.

When I was sub 80Kg, rather than my curent 94.9Kg, I didn't mind the heat so much as my body fairly efficiently sweated off the heat. I'd still head out for several hours when the local stations were reading ~32C, but hold back on max efforts up climbs to conserve the fluid in my bidons.

But in the last couple of years, not only do I burn up with my extra insulation blubber once it gets warner than ~24C, but it feels like my hayfever has got worse (in terms of really tired eyes rather than anything else). That might be because hayfever results in histamine buildup and long covid is believed to increase histamine levels circulating.

So in some ways, I enjoy riding September to March. But I hate getting cold, so I'll rarely head out when it's under ~13C and it will be turbo time instead (as it is when it's raining or the roads are damp from earlier rain, I don't want a load of South Downs grit thrown all over my drivetrain).

I like summer, I don’t like heatwaves. Sadly with climate change we will be getting more of the latter. But just got my latest sun hat to keep the sun off my head.

……..well: Maybe in Spring ? Autumn ?

But I think April / May and Sept to October are really my cycling sweet-spots.

Anyone remotely with me on this...

100% with you. Summer means endless farting around with gloopy sunblock and slogging along in energy sapping heat. I'm much happier once the nights start drawing in. Don't mind rain, but the threat of ice keeps me at home.

Since living here in the highlands [12yrs] there has never been a day which was uncomfortably hot. Riding in a t shirt for a handful of times maybe but then its back to a wearing a base layer and jacket. :okay:
