Anyone else prefer riding in Winter……

Yes!!

Rain, sleet, snow!
Love it all!
The present weather doesn't do me any favours
I don't mind the heat, but humidity is not my friend!
I haven't got them on this tablet, but if I could show you a couple from when I was running/racing, my expression in a hot/humid race says it all!!
Conversely, during a January fell-race, I'm smiling (as I used to when competing in CX)

All year round's fine for me, unless it's icy or heavy rain. One thing I like about cycling in summer is that I do a lot of wildlife recording - plants, butterflies and moths mainly - and it's so easy to jump off the bike and get a good look to confirm ID. Of course there are no butterflies and far fewer moths day-flying in winter.

Reading all the above, when coming back after dark from my trip to North Wales a couple of days ago reminded me how much I enjoyed the comparative chill as it got even darker. The day hadn't been particularly warm which suited me but I enjoyed the night time coolness to a ridiculous degree. I tend to run hot anyway.

Depends what you mean by "winter". Cycling in the winter, fine. Not so keen on winter conditions, specifically snow and ice and headwinds. Cold and / rain are fine really. Too hot to cycle at the moment

I Love the hotter, warmer months. Come winter, I love riding also as long as its not wet or icy. Within touching distance of being 60 I don't bounce as well as I used to so now take less risks. A nice, blue sky, cold, crisp, dry winters day can be glorious for cycling.

Nah. Attached temperature trace from this day last year, into Novi Sad. That's a 55 miles with a 500m climb in the middle, on a laden tandem.

The ride was from 6.30am to 11.30am to avoid the worst of the heat!

Happy days.

Temperature quickly ramped up to 27C+ before I could get myself going today, then got drawn into the earlier TDF coverage.

One thing I've discovered, even though it's still a struggle to get out in this heat, is that the ebike means less personal effort and so less core temperature rise.

I prefer the Shoulder Seasons, I never was a creature of the Serengeti, ah Winter not so much , but here in this corner of our Sceptic Isle, we are blest with the driest climate of all Britain, so not so bad if dressed for it.
But having been out in all weathers in my working life, I can take &:leave our winter solistice.

I can cope with most weathers, but as I have got older and developed diabetes I feel the cold much more. I commute 3/4 days most weeks unless it’s icy or very windy.

tomorrow I’m cycling with friends and lea an hour earlier than normal because of the predicted temperature.
