Hello All,

Just wondered if anyone had more than one Amazon Kindle ? The reason I ask is I brought one for my misses for Christmas and have brought a couple of cheap Cycling books. The problem I now have is I cannot get her hands off it long enough to have a look at my books. If I buy one for myself will these books work on the new one or are they registered in some way to that one only ?

Many thanks all.

Brad

Kindle works well on a smart phone.

You have to have the Kindles registered to the same account. I think you are limited to a certain number (4 springs to mind, but I don't know why) but this will let you share all your books.

Some books you can share between accounts, so I could loan you a book in my collection, but this is the exception, not the rule.

Thanks for the info much appreciated, as regards the smart phone I only have an extremely thick phone ! I think a smart phone would be killed by me in two seconds !

Kindle can be downloaded as an application for Windows and Apple computers and lap tops too. I know that they don't have the same degree of portability but the applications are free.

I use Linux and did try a reader once but found sitting in front of my pc to read a book a little strange and not the most comfortable If I had a laptop or note book I think the idea would be great !

My daughter and I both have one, both using my Amazon account, plus my laptop and smartphone.
The Kindle pc app can sync both your library and furthest page read too. So you can read on pc at work over <cough> lunchtime <cough> then contine from same page on a Kindle later. I find library management is easier on the app too.
Calibre is good for managing non-Amazon download ebooks, which the Kindle app won't.

I think the kindle is great but missing one thing ! A low level back light so I could read it in the dark ! That would make it that little bit more usefull ^_^

I hate the light when I am trying to sleep my mind is instantly is awake with light, this means the other half cannot read if I have to get up early or if we are camping . In some situations a light is just as not easy as a switch !
What are people's thoughts on the Kindle Fire? Anyone have any idea how much it will cost?
It's $199 on the Yankee site - you can compare the costs of the standard ones from there to here to get an idea.

We're a 2 kindle household although I haven't got one myself, Mrs 3BM uses her Amazon account and young Miss 3BM has hers registered to mine - no stocking up on Enid Blyton books without permission though!
