I've been following (like him or loathe him) his Lanceness and GlobeCycle (the geezer who's trying to break Beaumont's RTW record.
I know a zillion and one people are following Stephen Fry, but not me.
Who else do you think is good to follow?

@itvtdf is good if you want to keep up with the race when you're out & about and you have a Twitter app on your phone.
@DaveGorman - the comedian and cyclist
@davidschneider - comedian, writer & actor; his tweets are consistently funny.
@qikepedia - fascinating facts of the day courtesy of the research team behind the TV show QI

No I don't see the point. I use facebook to contact people, and have never felt the need to tell everyone that I just ate breakfast, so I'm not planning on using another site to broadcast such drivel.

You need to get into it to see the point. I felt exactly like you until someone showed me how to use it properly. I don't tell anyone what I'm doing, I try to post relevant and interesting stuff. I mainly use it for what I get out of it, I follow people who post useful links or tell me about interesting things and events. Give it a go!

Me and my friends already do that on a message thread on facebook.

Fair enough, but I really reckon you should give Twitter a go.

It depends what you're into, but its a great resource. For example, I now get a load of info on events in certain African countries that I would never have found without some serious web trawling....

I have registered and have investigated twitter but purely for research purposes 3 people following me (nthornburn) so I thought only polite to follow them back but also follow Bradley Wiggins, his tweets (http://twitter.com/BradWiggins) during the TdF have been very addictive. Got a couple of these nudie site bots try and start following me or get me to follow them which is very irritating!

Have never tweeted so welcome to follow me but don't expect much action.

There was a beautiful moment on a French randonneur site that I'm on. It's a kind of de-facto forum for PBP, LEL and such like. Someone from yacf posted on there that you could log/follow LEL rider progress on twitter by doing this that and the other. The response that came back was "What's twitter?".... and the thread died. ;)

I used Twitter on my 3 day 360 miler to let family and friends know where i was, what I was doing and so forth.

It worked well, but I haven't updated it since really... who wants to know "sat here at my desk wasting more time on Cyclechat... again!"
;)
