They said it would come sometime today, we have got it, big winds, thunder and a lightshow provided by nature and very big hail, I love a good storm so long as I am watching it from indoors.

Yep. We got hailed on twice on our club run this morning. Not great. A couple of our riders turned up in shorts and short sleeves, and they turned a nice shade of blue by the time the first storm had finished with them.

I got it twice too:ohmy: Luckily I was well covered, it still hurts the face though!

Mrs A was out in it driving home from shopping and I got a phone call just on my way back from Castle Howard on the bike. Couldn't answer immediately: I'd wet gloves on plus the phone was in a pocket 3 layers down and what with that and the heavy rain (the hail had stopped) I thought I'd better press on till I was under some trees.

She wanted to know if I was out in it and was coming home.. I certainly was and cycling hard to keep warm. Later I reached the stage when I seemed to lose all contact with my legs but was encouraged to see they must be working all right as the countryside was still whizzing by. Did c. 44 miles in 3 hours which surprised me considering I had to cross the city with all the traffic lights, etc. The wet roads didn't help as I don't like cycling through puddles that could hide a pothole.

You know when you're organising a ride, meet at a train station, invite people to use the loo before we leave and then ten minutes later when we're about to set off, someone decides that now they need to use the loo? We had one of those on Saturday.

Thankfully: the hailstorm began while they were in the loo, while we were still in the station, and not five minutes down the road. :-)
