Looks like the government is slowly regaining control but at least sixty people have been killed.

Amazing. I though coups were what happened in Latin America in the sixties and seventies, not in an aspiring modern European state.

Not being flippant
A Turkish friend of mine (keen on conspiracies) reckons (and I've read article to this effect too) that Erdogan set it all up to make his position stronger. Seems a bit drastic, but... it's a theory.
