It is a parking spot, and a bike is a vehicle... Does anyone have a problem with this?

Yes. The bike owner's being a total self-righteous prat.

Actually.

I drive too. Not a lot, but enough to know that finding a parking space in a car park is sometimes not easy. It's pretty easy to put your bike somewhere apart from a parking bay. It doesn't cost you any money and it doesn't inconvenience you in any way. Why gratuitously go out of your way to upset strangers. BTW, if the bike owner can't see that, he ought to go out and live a bit more.

Grump.

Would they really be surprised to find their bike dumped over that hedge when they got back?
Or worse still, in a crumpled heap, with a "SMIDSY" note attached .

Isn't there something about a bicycle having to be secured against something else (bike rack or post) to insure that it doesn't fall over and cause a hazard.

I thought about parking an old bike on the road outside my house during the summer to make sure we had a parking spot for the car, but wasn't convinced I'd be strictly within the laws of the road.
