Apart from the obvious advantage of being able to fold them if required, is there any reason to choose folding over wired or vice versa?

Folding advantages: Weight. Easier to fit (as they're bendier).
Wired: Cheaper. Apart from that, not a lot.

Generally folding tyre are the manufactures higher end tyres so might grip and roll better (More TPI, Lighter) but are more costly. Wired tyre are generally the opposite.

I find wired a lot easier to get on. The steel cable flexes a bit more than the kevlar.

I only ask because there are 2 options for Durano Plus tyres, I don't envisage needing to carry a spare tyre so thought I'd just buy the wired ones.

As said weight might be a consideration for folding but other than that there's not much benefit if its the same tyre. Foldable might/ might not fit easier its probably more down to the rim.

Folding are much better.

I only post this to create some sense of consensus, all of my points have already been made in previous posts:
Folding tyres are generally lighter, easier to carry around and are a tiny bit easier to get on and off, but are usually more expensive.

Can't prove it but folding feel more responsive - probably due to lighter weight.

Must be a big pocket , how do you stop the chain from getting your clothes dirty ?
I bought a durano plus to replace on the backwheel. The problem I am finding is that unlike beaded tyres it is extremely difficult to fit, it just slips off all the time. Short of taping it to the wheel I am needing ideas - some people have suggested inflating the tube partially. Videos on this topic aren't as illuminating as I would like either.
