Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but does anyone know why the Apple Health App doesn't track cycling?

Always just says 'no data'.

For other stuff like running and walking it's pretty accurate.

Isn't the Apple Health thing really just an API that they expect other developers to use and provide extra functionality?

Most of the health apps use a small accelerometer which simply detects movement

I played with these and a Fitbit in my bumbAg scores nothing on my commute, yet same device attached to the leg of my shorts records 4000 steps and 23 flights of stairs for the same route

The Apple Health app is a victim of this

It's just plain weird though...why have it as a loggable activity and then clearly not support it?!?

My Jawbone Up24 works a treat so I don't really need it...still winds me up

Seams hit and miss on what it imports and what it doesn't. Mines set to read all my data, but sometimes it misses days worth at a time. I tend to forget it exists and to be honest if I could delete it I would (like the apple watch that appeared as well).

It collects Strava & Garmin data. Health is just an app that imports all your activity, calories, vitals etc from other apps and displays them.
