What is the best app to find the best routes around london/essex area

Google maps and street view. The cycle routing choices are a bit hit and miss, so checking the street view where available is a good idea.

cycle.travel. It uses real traffic data to keep you off busy roads.

Take a look at the Essex audaxes. They’ll get you a miles to keep you busy for a while.

I just tried that. The route they gave me would be a nightmare to ride. Think i will stick with Ride with GPS.👍

RidewithGPS has a handy search feature which means you can see routes in your patch taken by other cyclists.

These are often the best routes because the cyclist has probably tried and tested them, which saves you doing it.

After all, the best way to find the best routes is to ask other riders.

I expect some of the other mapping sites have a similar feature, but I'm not familiar with them.
