Are ADT the UK's most rapaciously unethical company?

A bold claim I'll confess - think of the competition, but....

A quote of £800+VAT to fit a new starter motor in another thread brought to mind a story in last weekend's Guardian watchdog column, itself inspired by a previous account of a two grand invoice for replacing a few batteries. Taking up the story...

This must surely take the all time Taking The Piss award.

Or maybe you know better....?

I can't top that, but we ordered a laptop with MS office from our contracted NHS supplier (DEL). They quoted £849. We argued the case and directed them to Amazon which had the same latop for £340, and they miraculously revised their quote to £449

Contractors to the Government are amongst the worst. PFI in schools and hospitals (as alluded upthread) really do milk the taxpayer.

But each contract they win has to cover the costs of all the failed bids... and some of the bizarre tendering requirements often shrink the number of suppliers in the market, so this is partly a mess of the Government's making... and partly made by those pushing for continuation of some of the more bizarre tendering requirements - which often includes some of the larger Contractors... oh blast it all, it's 5.30 so work is over and I say BURN IT ALL TO HELL

And the lowest bidder is invariably the crappest one. Abuses in immigration centres, Grenfell Tower, military project overruns...the system does not work from the moment it goes out to tender right thrpugh to the end life of the product.

Ah but they award contracts on "best value" not simply the lowest bidder(!)

Nah - ADT are amateurs.... you want to look at the NHS PFI providers if you want to see *real"* gouging.

Having spent the last 2 years working in the care sector im staggered by the corporate theft that goes on. Shocking really.
