Are mobility cars worth considering if you only do around 2,750 miles a year?

Consider the "What if" situations.
Breakdowns, crashes, service, repairs etc.

If you can mitigate all these scenarios, then buying 2nd hand or via another purchase scheme is viable.

Motobility comes into its own when you breakdown, need a courtesy car etc. And you get a shiny new car every 3/4 years. Just have to sacrifice your motobility benefit.

The mobility scheme is good but it won't save you any money so don't think it will.

Ah, dont start me on Motability and hire cars when you have a problem...

If you can be arsed to do so ownership is liable to be less expensive, and if you keep on top of things being master of your own destiny is ultimately easier. In no way is Motability hassle-free, and when the wheel comes off (hopefully not literally) their customer services makes British Gas seem easy to reason with.

My thoughts at first when being rewarded the enhanced mobility rate were part exchange my current car at the local garage I've bought my last three cars from then I'm free of all that dreaded April hassle with the MOT, insurance and tax. The benefits/PIP advisor who assisted me yesterday said, much to my surprise that I should get around £7,000 back in arrears from the long awaited appeal. I thought and still do that I could spend some, maybe all of that money on a car from that local garage, who yesterday offered me £1,000 for my Fiat 500, which was more than I was expecting. I think I paid around £3,000 for it 4 years ago. It's been breakdown, repairs free, so I've been fairly lucky with it. Get a car from that garage with a grand back for my car, then use the new to me car for local shopping, trips to where buses don't go etc. I'll be getting a bus pass with my new allowance, so I Intend to use it, meaning my annual miles of around 2,750 will be even less than that.

Maybe even this is worth considering?🤔

Seeing that I now seem to be having minor bumps etc when driving, my dog messing up my car, I hoard too much stuff in my car etc the above would be perfect. No worries about putting dents in a 7 grand car when your car cost only £995, when you get a grand for your current car.🤔

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
What are they?🤔

There used to an option with motobility, that you could buy the car off them at the end of the term. We did this twice and both cars are still running well within the family.

Alas, they stopped that and cars have to be returned and sold via a nationwide auction site.

Im not sure id want to do that now (not that they allow any more) with their penny pinching attitude to maintenance.

In our case, they were very low milage and we knew their history and we didn't need the hassle of trooping round dealers or private sales.
