I happen to believe that human existence, the Earth and everything else is no more than a massive coincidence in infinity and that when things go inexplicably wrong there is a tiny bit of interference to the coincidence. One day the coincidence will stop happening and everything will vanish in a puff of smoke.

I did once - in Another Place, under Another Name - propose the hypothesis that the Infinite Monkeys will have written, not merely the Works of Shakespeare, not merely All the Books in the British Museum, but every post on every internet forum, every blog, every networking group, that's ever been written or is ever going to be written. So all the previous posts by Yours Truly, by Bonj, by Abitrary, by Linford, by SimCC, they're all down there already ordained and decreed.

Have been a spectator of cosmological theory since the days of Fred Hoyle and steady-state.

I watched an interesting programme recently that went along the 'infinite parallel universes with infinite combinations' line. It's almost beyond imagination to try to understand the concept of infinite combinations. What I think is possible is that due to chemistry of the elements, some combinations of events will be more probable than others. So life will tend to be based around certain elements in whatever universe it arises, and that will mean some patterns of evolution will be more likely than others, and thus some patterns of development of intelligence will be more probable than others.
Do we all have doppelgangers in other universes? If we do, I hope their Amazon parcels arrived on time!
