Caeser Milan isn't a dog expert either. I cringe when I see some of his techniques, like taking a dog that's scared of motorbikes and dragging it near a running bike. Then declaring it cured as it's no longer barking at the bike, but is instead actually in a state of such terror that it can't move (learnt helplessness).

Can't help with your wolf problem much though, sorry. I went to visit a wolf sanctuary earlier this year though, and met the Alpha, we had a look, I turned my head and curved my body, he was happy. According to the staff, most people that got as close as I did to the mesh got peed on, so I must have done something right.

Nope, not one of those! Having googled "grey wolf", I'd say it looked most like one of those, but the colouring was a little different. I am sure it was a wolf.

Go back and get a picture of it so we can all see this 7 foot tall, predatorial, fire breathing, man eating Devil beast with fangs like dinner forks and a sickening howl that can be heard in 3 counties then!

If the owner doesn't know what it is, then say you will find out for him and take a picture (or some other excuse).

I'm a dog lover/dog owner but that's not man's best friend - that's a loaded gun in the hands of an idiot.

Yes there is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner. What worries me just as much as the owner is that it will get bored and start to play up with potentially awful consequences.

I agree, mostly!

So perhaps the beast in question here is just a bit of a psycho wild animal! I have known dogs like that too. Most dogs are docile, the odd one is a nutter.

I've had a variety of large dogs over the years, a Rotty, GSD & 2 BullMastiffs, during my time as a Licensee a big well trained dog was an essential - My GSD & Rotty were both bought from a former police dog handler, one of the conditions of sale was that they had to trained by him.
My 2 Mastiffs were the soppiest creatures you'd ever meet - They produced the more fearsome noise & looked like complete Hellhounds, but the bitch would run & hide in the bathroom if a stranger actulay got too close & the dog would just flop down, roll over for his belly to be tickled!
I bought a 6 month old Jack Russel, when #1 was 4yrs old, mainly so he could have a 'pet dog' he could walk himself... She died last year aged 12 - the damn thing was a lunatic! Took her to obedience lessons, after 6 was told not to come back - The teacher declared her a menace!
She was a brilliant family dog, loved people & children, but put her near another creature & she turned savage - she even attacked the fish tank once!
If she was a human she would have been served an ASBO!

I'm sorry but in my opinion your best bet would be an anonymous tip-off to the relevant authorities about a possible dangerous dog. He's never had a dog and then he gets something as domineering as that ?! A tip-off might seem extreme but how will you feel if you don't report it and it kills someones child ? If it turns out to be legit / safe, then fair enough but I'm betting it won't. I've got first hand experience of this type of dog. And you can not be too careful.

Or contact these guys:

and ask if there is someone who you should talk to because you're concerned there's a wolfdog who is being kept inappropriately and is at risk because lack of training means he might hurt someone.

Sam (I'd have one myself, if I had the time and space one would need)

I am not enthused by the idea of wolf dogs no matter how much time you put in with them on the training, they don't get their hackles up or growl/bark like dogs do, they just go quiet and then take a chunk out of you.

Wolf or dog?

Which side of it wins out when it's buttons are pushed?

Didn't take long for the hysterics to set in did it.

Some breeds of dog and especially wolves have one of the strongest bite pressures of any animal.

Trust me, the dog is stronger.
Once again we agree.
I had the honour of walking a Timber Wolf and by the gods it was strong. It was also realy friendly when out of his cage. I had my face licked by him. Beautiful creatures in the right hands.
