Fairly so. What I'm always surprised at are cyclists that are angry or suffering from some kind of road rage just because they are on the road and in a hurry ( I mean not because of some altercation ). Cycling is a stress reliever.

My terms are pretty well defined. Cheery? Yes or no*. Couldn't be clearer.

I'm not interested in the nuances of how you feel, just whether the words "cheery" or "cheerily" can be applied to you or your actions.

You say you feel "pretty good". I'll take that as a no. Pretty good is not "cheery"

* Reminds me of sitting in the Wong Kei once, quite late and the kitchen was shutting down so they only had a limited menu. Someone at the next table had asked for another dish, prompting the waiter to yell "NO! SOUP NOODLE! ONLY SOUP NOODLE! SOUP NOODLE: YES ... OR ... NO" Clearly the menu was down to just one item by then.
Is that the Wong Kei in Chinatown Soho? I went there for my wedding dinner years back, six drummers in the party (I worked in music) as the waiter got you my mum with the chopstick distribution one drummer demonstrates a roll on the table and waiter stopped shouting get out and took all the chopsticks back. Very funny at the time but a bugger trying to find a restaurant replacement of 30 plus musicians wandering around Soho drunk. Got there in the end though via a few pub stops as I remember. Sorry for the thread divert.

Have a nice ride.
When cycling are you ever "cheery"?
Do you ever do or say anything "cheerily" while cycling?
Could the adjective "cheery" ever be applied to anything you do or say while cycling?

If the answer to any of these is yes, then vote yes. If not, vote no.

Vote now!
What surprises me, DT, is that with 100 responses right now 75% said “yeah, cheery” leaving a full 25% of respondents either picking on the word cheery (or just having fun with their responses.) If anyone really could NOT say yes to at least one of the questions, that would be sad! (I suspect that some people just don’t want to say yes to anything.)

Those 25% may be profoundly content. They may be happy. They may be cheerful. They may be all kinds of things. But they don't go about with the rictus grin associated with the word "cheery"

Just look at it. Say it 20 times. Cheery cheery cheery. What an awful word. (In my personal opinion, which is not widely shared)

You've observed them too, ey, SB? Life is too short to be that obsessed with anything to the point where it takes away from the enjoyment you used to receive from the activity. :cuppa:

No, unfortunately not... lots of motorists when I'm commuting. And for trips in the countryside, there are racing teams in spandex ripping up the trails aggressively....

“It took approximately 4.5 billion years for a series of evolutionary transitions resulting in intelligent life to unfold on Earth,”

So, being alive as an intelligent sentient life form is a very rare occurrence, quite possibly unique to earth.

“In another billion years, the increasing luminosity of the Sun will make Earth uninhabitable for complex life."

Enjoy every day while you can, you are truly privileged to be alive. :okay:
