I wear a horrid hat at work with a net attached to hold my hair, which is long...so unbearable in the heat of a supermarket cafe that has no opening but lots of Windows and naff 'air conditioning' was glad to finish after eight hours and get out to my bike.

Speaking as a female, there is definitely an age where hat wearing goes from cute and kooky to mad old lady.
I fear I am definitely in the latter category.
On a related note, I currently have 3 cycling caps for sale on eBay as I have decided I look stoopid in them.

Used to go out with a boy from Accrington. My dad insisted on calling him Stanley. Sooooo embarrassing!

I was given a Panama hat three years ago. I looked even more of a prat than usual. Fortunately, my teenage daughter took a shine to it and looks quite stylish with it sitting on her bonce. Despite my advanced years, I'm never going to be able to master the linen jacket look.
