Beautiful place, and proper good people to enjoy it with. Best two days of last year for me. Second time I sprinted off and did last 7 or so miles myself to soak it in. Get goosebumps every time I watch those videos, or hear the songs from them that I have downloaded since.

How did this happen and did Harry Palmer survive intact?

Not sure how but, bar some cuts and bruises, I survived that intact... my bike sadly wasn't so lucky

Ironically I came off my bike last month at about 2mph on an icy cycle path and ended up with six stitches in my chin!

Read most of that report It seems you got of lightly at that speed it could have been a lot worse, so did you eventually buy a triban 5a?

Yeah, I have no idea how I didn't break so much as a nail... I was a bit more cautious the second time round!

Watched the second video earlier and the downhills are really fast,impressive

Some nice long downhills in the south of the island (after some not-so-nice long uphills), then it gets pretty flat up the west coast before the BIG uphill in the north. Hopefully they've got some more of that lovely new tarmac they had laid last year

Yeah the start can be a shock as its approx 20 bumpy miles, then quite flat, cake, flat, hell of a big climb, 4 min super fast descent l then flat to port for the crusty chips and irn bru.

It's the bit at the start of the video I was thinking you are starting to gather a good bit of speed and then the guy overtakes like you are stopped and then again at 4.08

He was going for a Strava segment, Col and I were cruising uphill unaware of that, then when I got round the corner and saw that lovely long downhill, I had to see what speed I could get it up to about 40mph as it turned out.

The second one (the drop from the BIG uphill) I overtook when we were doing about 30 and when I hit the turn into the valley I was just over 35, tucked everything in and let it roll. Wheeeeeee! I just didn't start pedalling again at the bottom
