Sorry, that's right its on Western Ave. I confused it with the Gillette building on the Great West Rd, another fine Deco example.

It's been empty and fenced around for several years. I hope no-one tries to demolish it.

Interestingly, Pevsner, in the original edition, thought the Hoover building was brash and vulgar. Later editors have softened that opinion.

If anyone stumbles upon a Hispano Suiza bonnet mascot at a sensible price please let me know.

There's some on the Wirral
With a cross-over into British Moderne, some (is it?) Mersey Rail, stations in particular

Plus, even the bus shelters/public toilets (could be the same thing, if they were in Liverpool itself?)
(was visited part of a weekend away, at Chester, so our old XKR, creeping out of shot)

The amusement complex was a swimming stadium/Lido, but not as big as the one at Morecambe

Very nice, but I'd say that emblem was more Gothic perhaps.

View attachment 346432 The Carreras Craven A building in Campden Town, with the famous Black Cats outside , classed as Art Deco Egyption Revival Architecture

I used to pass that daily as it was on the way to my previous gig. Lovely building.

Another nice on is the National Statistical Office by Victoria Bus Station. A British utilitarian take on Art Deco rather than lavish egyptian or heroic worker statues but lovely building, especilly inside. They'd clearly done it up recently and it looked great. Looked like a fair bit of money had been (wisely) spent without going mad. Assesment based on looking at it rather than the auditor's report. Worth gawping through the windows if you're early for a bus.
