At last! Thanks for the link Uncle M. Not much I can do with them then...Uncle Mort said:I've never heard of coal ash being used in the garden!
A quick Google search told me it was because coal ash also contains a great deal of other elements, such as cobalt, boron, and arsenic among others, which are toxic to plants, animals, and people. Nice!

Can't I just put a thick coat of ash and salt over my tyres? I reckon an inch will last me until spring.

Get a multifuel stove, you'll use a fraction ofnthe coal for more heat. Most chimneys dont need a special liner - thats just installers upping their profits.
