Oh yes, for sure the games should go ahead, i was referring to the specific event, i'm quite surprised it goes ahead as planned (starting tonight) it just seems to be a fairly quick turnaround!

After the death of Fabio Casartelli back in the 1990s, many on here will remember, they agreed to continue with the TdF but the next day's stage was run non-competitively, with all of his Motorola team-mates crossing the line together, slowly, ahead of the bunch. I remember watching that event on TV: a most poignant symbol, not in any way sentimental, but thought-provoking all the same. I'm sure many others remember that moment.

Maybe something of the sort could have been done here, though it's not an entirely similar situation.

I would imagine that for the future a simple solution would be to put some sort of mesh wire/netting above the track so that somebody who makes that kind of mistake can't come flying out of the track.
