This.

Here's what Wicki says:
Sacrilege is a double remix album by the band Can, released in 1997. It features remixes of many of the band's most well-known songs from the 1960s and 70s, remixed by contemporary recording artists.

Why these 'contempory recording artists' ( for that read ******* *******) were ever allowed anywhere near the original material is a total mystery. IMHO there is only 1 track which is even remotely listenable, most bear absolutely no resemblance to the alleged source track, the album is without doubt a complete and utter pile of sh1te and is the most extreme atrocity commited in music ever.

sorry but I'm going to have to check that out... I like Can and like a good remix... although from your description, it may not have any 'good' remixes on it.

Scissor Sisters cover of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.

Just what were they thinking of?

Oh come on, that's genius. Pink Floyd's portentiousness makes them perfect for a Bee Gees-esque cover...

Please do, if you are a Can fan, as I am, I'd be interested in your views. The only decent track is the Westbam mix of '....and more', I can't really remember much else, as you may have gathered I don't listen to it. What I wrote above is what I remember thinking at the time when I got it and gave it a couple of listens.

Rick Wakeman re-doing Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Bought mag with it on cover, it's bloated and boring. Not a patch on the 1974 live original.

War of the Worlds remake - done, I'm told, to make it sound 'relevant to the 21st century and younger audiences'. In short, Jeff Wayne needed the cash and younger audiences get patronised as the music business thinks anyone under 25 is incapable of relating to anything recorded before they were born.
