There's a pic on Facebook the lights taken from a street in the city, so it must have been visible through light pollution for a short period of time.

Me too. Somewhere round Tromso or the Lofoten Islands would do nicely.

I drove out to a hill near here last night about 10.30pm to see if there was any aurora, and I couldn't see any. It was pretty cloudy and actually starting to sleet/ snow a little bit. I would love to see it in all its splendour. I've seen a little bit in Northern Finland but it was kind of monochrome, no colour to it.
