I read today that over 400 million people use Avast so even though you don't, there are likely to be quite a few CycleChatters who do.

Yes, I'm on Linux Mint 19, I've been on Linux for over 10 years and never felt I needed anti virus or firewall. However both my android tablet and phone run behind a firewall, but that's more to control the app's calling home.

Windows Defender in Windows 10 seems to have worked amazingly well for me.

Same here.
Sometimes I worry about some of the links I've got to check out on Mods duties, but so far, so good.

Windows Defender seems to do the job. In my experience adding things like Norton or AVG to your computer is a good way to slow them to crawl.
