3BM if you want the frame back then no worries otherwise I shall donate to the first interested CC'er only (hopefully will do more than you or I did with it).

Too big for me which is why I gave it to you mate!

Let someone else have a go if they fancy a lovely 30 year old large Raleigh 531 Reynolds frame - need to be tall though, what was it - 25"

What is it that's wrong with your back Wigsie? I've been told that my problem is ligament damage and being 6ft 5in tall doesn't help. I've just strained it again for the first time in ages and am totally p****d off 'cos it's forced me off the bike. I'm going to make an appointment to see the quack to see if I can push for an MRI scan, just to satisfy my own sense of wanting to know exactly what is going on in there. I will also have to start doing maintenance exercises as I am nearing forty years of age and can't get away with getting away with it any more ;)

Sorry to hear about you back Wigsie, sounds bad. Hope your recovery over the next year goes well and as said you could go to the dark side and get a bent.

If you have had long term back problems I suspect you have tried most things, but in case not, have you tried seeing a chiropractor?

I used to get debilitating back pain until I started to see one. She not only sorted out the immediate problems, but also gave a lot of good advice on how to look after my back.

Having said that she has never been keen on me riding on drops.

I'd be happy to pay a few pennies for this and build up a nice bike which I can commute on/ take to uni etc etc ....is it heavy?

Wigsie....I sent you a PM after seeing your classifieds ad..... didn't read this
Terrible terrible shame.... you love the bike so much...and this means I need to cycle all the way to you for that pint...no meeting half way...bugger.

Seriously though....get a better doctor (one who will let you cycle sooner rather than later  )

Mate, that's a real bugger, enough so I'll forgive you(but not RichP) the gentle slating:biggrin:

I'd go along with the idea of seeking 2nd, 3rd, 4th...etc, opinions, you never know. Try to keep positive, the mind can be a great healer. Even with your limited mental stature it could be a help!!!

Seriously, don't give up, there's always an option.

and if it doesnt work then you smell like reggae reggae sauce and you have a few nice meals can i suggest having it wil some nice chicken going to kfc and getting a big chicken bucket and tipping a jar of that over the top is just lovely and perfect protein

Monty, you are welcome to have the frame, 3bikes never charged me for it so I won't charge you, let me know when your on barracks down the road next and will arrange a pint (that YOU owe me!) and do the exchange.

I am not going to give up, feel a bit like a tw*t for posting this now  I have never quit anything and don't intend on starting now. I have been visiting Osteopaths, sports injury physio's and chiro's on and off for the last 10 years, the issue usually goes away for 18 months or so after four or five treatment sessions, but it has been around 3 months of near constant pain (the osteopath has actually given me the last 2 sessions free as he can't fix it), I have been riding through it but gotten to the point where i can't any more. It is worsening regardless of treatments so an op on lower back disc/vertebrae is the only way forward apparently.

I WILL be back on a bike and it will NOT be a bent or have silly MacB style handle bars! just maybe not a bum in the air down in the drops road bike.

EDIT: Are you on commission Pasta man? Although i do love the Reggae reggae!

Panter

Just call me Chris...
Have you tried MTBing?

Just thinking out loud really as I have absolutely no idea what that would do for your back but it's obviously a very diffferent riding position, in fact you're standing for most of the descents.

Was it the GP who gave you advice or a chiropractor/osteopath/physio?

IMHO, GPs just say "rest it" for every kind of injury!

I have a back problem and so I ride a flat-bar road bike with a short top-tube. Doesn't make me slow though!
