Yes indeed, the days of leaded petrol rampant homophobia, racial intolerance, domestic violence and football hooliganism, don't we all miss them?

The days when they put two blades in a Stanley knife separated by a match to make a wound impossible to stitch up. That was the seventies that was and I remember them well..... Please don't pretend violence is a new phenomenon.

I'm not trying to pretend the 70s or 80s were ideal, i've already pointed that out earlier, i said earlier that there were plenty of problems back then, but folk still had a better attitude to a fellow human being than they do today.

Would you get attacked just for a laugh back then, or to film it for you tube?

We actually have a society where there is no line any where, where you can set fire to someone just for a laugh with your mates, or run someone down for a bit of fun.Kick someone to death if you are in a mood.

You've contradicted your argument within one post! Loads of jobs but you left school to nothingness?

[sorry for the thread derailment]

loads of jobs, i was talking about the 70s, though down here in the south in the 80s folk were quite comfortable, forgetting what was happening elsewhere in the country.

I saw the south in the 80s, a dream land, compared to everywhere else.

 Did a bit of drugs in these days did you?

I didn't live in the south for long in the 80s, i'm scottish.
In the south there were jobs, plenty of money, the total opposite to the remainder of the the uk, i travelled 300 miles to get a job, there was nothing in Scotland.
So when you go near the south, and it's the opposite to everywhere else it is like a dreamworld.

And so begins the reason for the behaviour of today, no work, plenty of time to sit around, mass redundancies, jobs and skills gone never to replaced, retiring at 40 as you'll never see a job again.
Drug dependency, heroin estates, crime gathering speed, ram raiding, children wandering the streets after midnight, the 80s were the beginning, it was almost predictable that this is where we would arrive.

i think one of the few solutions to have turned it all around much earlier was to do something like Germany or even France, keep work going, don't destroy every industry in one go, keep communites, keep the good things that we had. It's come full circle now as industries we threw away, buried forever, we need now.

If you watch your father, unemployed, never to work again, what message does that send out?

This is getting very political as a subject, but for me i can see where modern behaviour and anger came from.

One day i'll probably get angry and react if someone takes liberties again, as i said you have to weigh up your options, you could be dead straight away making the wrong choice.

I'm actually fed up dismissing, remaining calm, and putting up with every idiot who gives me hassle while cycling, or innocently walking somewhere."violence begets violence" as the saying goes.
