Bad driver-what do you think?

Send the video to the company.

NO!

The chances are the driver is a muppet!

Email the company first with a description

Then let the driver lie to his back teeth about how your cycling was appalling and he was driving courteously and safely

Then, and only then send the video with a second email asking why the driver has lied to his management as well as driving in such a poor manner

It is sad, but most managers will be more pissed off about being put in a position where they have to retract an email or letter because their staff lied rather than the initial incident

In on case where this happened the second email simply stated that the driver was no longer employed

Crap driving but I can't believe you sent the video to the plod.
Depends on the police force - in some, the driver would get a letter, possibly a visit, or possibly a summons from his manager (who was less than pleased to have had a phone call from a police inspector)

Pepper St? It's shoot driving for sure - no way could the driver see around that bend before the pub. Was it Cheshire Police you dealt with? They could at least contact the company and flag up the report of reckless driving.

Watch out for a guy in a silver van with "meat on the hoof" on the side in the Mobberley/Ashley area. It is only a matter of time until I see his vehicle wrapped around a tree or involved in a serious RTC.

The driver is a muppet. Just email the complaint and Video. No need to go back and forth with she said, he said, they said.. Video doesn't lie.

Your second video shows how little room a cyclist or pedestrian would have to avoid the idiot. The 2ft wide pavement is their only hope! The police say he didn't cross a double white line, but surely he was driving without due care and attention in approaching a blind bend on the wrong side of the road? Maybe there's no case for a prosecution but why can't they approach the driver and warn him/her of their inconsiderate driving?

Nothing coming the other way, you don't die = Nothing to prosecute.
Something coming the other way, you do die = Probably your fault.

Your local police should be having a word with the driver at the very least. Drivers like that should be made aware of the possible consequences of their appalling driving, even if they can't be taken off the road.

Interesting to read CPS guidelines on when to charge dangerous driving/driving without due care attention.
They quote examples of what sort of things are a factor in deciding whether to prosecute.
Among these examples are the following:

The following examples of circumstances that are likely to be characterised as dangerous driving are derived from decided cases and the SGC Definitive Guideline:
  • failing to have a proper and safe regard for vulnerable road users such as cyclists, motorcyclists, horse riders, the elderly and pedestrians
  • speed, which is particularly inappropriate for the prevailing road or traffic conditions
  • overtaking which could not have been carried out safely
And the test for whether the lesser offence is committed is worded as follows:

The offence of driving without due care and attention (careless driving) under section 3 of the RTA 1988 is committed when the defendants driving falls below the standard expected of a competent and careful driver.

So the unwillingness to prosecute in this case is a little frustrating.

It's sad how a few on here are always sending videos to the police. These are the type of people who were grasses at school so had no friends. Some folk have way too much time on their hands.

Driving a car dangerously is very much a matter for the police, your language indicates you have not left the playground.

The question posed by the people sending the clips is should we require more, surely preventing more before it happens is preferable?

Although Milzy is a low-rent troll, it’s worth a brief reply.

Reporting a driver of a large vehicle for endangering the lives of other road users is not the action of a grass, but the behavior of someone who wants to make the roads less dangerous and more pleasant for all.
