Saw something similar to this during a ride earlier in the year. I was on my way back from Blackpool and remember getting to somewhere near Bolton or Bury and thinking WTF are they? Nearly stopped to take a picture, wish I had done now....
Anything in my local Tameside or Manchester area are much more normal and realistic.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
Probably because they don't use spray paint, they use that gloopy stuff that is put on with a roller. Presumably because it lasts longer.

Carrying stencils all the different signs and symbols would probably add to the hassle and time for a road painter.

However I am no expert in road painting, so that is just a guess.
If they don't already have the technology, then somebody needs to invent the gloopy road paint equivalent of a giant inkjet printer! :laugh:
