Over-crowded shops and congested town centres.
Endless advertisements trying to sell me shoot I don't want.
Works parties that usually end up with a row.
Carol singers singing off-key on my doorstep.
Endless repeated drivel on telly.
Some wrist-slitting depressing storyline on Eastenders.
Feeling the need to visit relatives and then remembering why you never visited them since last Christmas.
Putting on weight.
Stupid lights everywhere.
Brussel Sprouts.

The lights all over the front of homes. It's so American. My neighbour has lights bloody everywhere, right across the front of my flat and has now put a reindeer and sleigh light up bollocky thing on the front of MY flat under my utility room window. I have asked him to remove the 4' high light up rudolph and the fecking light up twee tree, which he has - with bad grace IMO. I know that I don't have to pay the electricity for his eccentricity but I just don't want all the commercialised crip-crap in my front garden. He has, at least, agreed to change the timer switch to go off at 11pm instead of 1am, keeping half the neighbourhood awake
The never ending buy buy buy everywhere you look and the kids with their 'I want, I want, I want'. I cannot, for the life of me, see why 7 year old children need an iPad Air, or the latest iPhone come to that.

I am not a fan of the overblown commercialisation of Christmas. It gets worse and worse every year. I had hoped, being in a very quiet area in a very quiet town to escape a bit. These elderly pensioner types are worse than the younger parents with a brood of kids.

I'm working all of it again. Looking forward to everyone telling me about their fortnight off.

At least the roads will be quiet
There's the firing required for AGA. Cleaning it all out on the 24th, after the turkey has been cleaned out, stuffed. Spuds peeled, carrots, parsnips, brussel sprouts all prepared. Everything in a pan, just the water to add. Everything ready the night before.

Special homemade slow burning mixture put in the the range, with more to add in the early hours, to bring the heat right up. Once it starts burning. Sufficient supply of wood and turf for the day in the house. Might cheat and use a bit of coal, just to keep the fire there.

The bike ride afterwards for a bit of fun.
