Saw Peter Green some years back. Worst concert I ever went to; it was cringe worthy.
There was a documentary about him some years back too about his 'road to recovery' ...seemed a shame that such a fundamental goal of his recovery was to put him back on a stage... almost as if someone was thinking 'There's still some money to be made out of this guy'.

Going to see the Stranglers in a few months so I shall report back as to whether they are in the "Can still cut it" or "Can't still cut it" category

I am a bit concerned as only two of the original four are still going (Hugh Cornwell left and Jet Black is too old to still do the drumming so they have a "tour drummer")

Not a band but a singer.... we saw Gordon Lightfoot a few months ago and he was absolutely terrible, a pathetic old man's voice weakened by age and cancer, nothing like the old rich baritone. In fact his band was excellent; same members for over 30 years and still spot on. He should give up touring now.

Examples of singers who can't reach the high notes so have to drop an octave are Elton John and Paul McCartney. Oh and Roger Daltrey. They should all retire but, interestingly, I heard somebody say on R4 that many pop musicians got royally screwed by their agents early in their careers and aren't as fabulously rich as people think.

Rolling Stones.
Bruce Springsteen (though how he ever got a recording contract in the first place beggars belief)
Meatloaf.
Paul McCartney, just embarrassing now.

I've seen him 3 times, got his autograph twice (once on the book and the 2nd time on a CD) quite rare and I also have a photograph of him with his arm around Maz, very rare to get a photo of him.

As for his playing it was vey subdued but flashes of his brilliance were still there.

Yet I really can't remember the last time I saw them do a bad gig. Live, they certainly can cut it. Extraordinarily so.
Tony Iommi is right up there as one of the greatest exponents of the guitar that has ever lived.

No argument there. I was hugely disappointed by 13, but I'm hoping to see them on the 'final' (honestly, definitely this time) tour.

Please do report back, I have an interest in seeing them but would like to know if it would be money well spent. :okay:

Well, they most definitely still can cut it.

02 Apollo last night (a venue I last went to in 1982 to see The Damned). Mainly...errr..."middle aged" fans but a fair sprinkling of younger sorts.

I was a bit worried that without Hugh Cornwell it wouldn't be the same but they were great. Did pretty well the entire Greatest Hits. Massive energy from the audience. I was standing about 6 rows back from the front and it was a massive scrum the whole gig. Hot, sweaty, claustrophobic, noisy but all good-natured fun

Final encore was "Go Buddy Go" and I ended up crowd surfing over the security barriers at the front. Considering the evening started with a nice Thai meal and a few cocktails, it was quite a conclusion

And well done to The Ruts in support who also most definitely can still cut it
