Bath. Shower broken. Can't afford to replace it.

Was never intended as a jibe at anyone's personal cleanliness. I'd have to meet you first
Its a shower every time for me, I'm biased as I've spent my working life as a ships engineer, hot working environment (I'm in Brasil at the moment) oil, grease, sweat, lots of sweat, and inevitable aches of a 7 days, 12 hours/day. A bath ain't really workable (if the option was there) due to water consumption and I'd likely end up sitting in the middle of an oil slick, hence my 'wallowing in your own filth" comment, more diluting it than washing it away. Boat rolls around well enough that a bath would work better as a washing machine. If as others have said, a bath was actually big enough for me.

lucky enough to have a bathroom big enough for a double size cubicle and an 1800 x 800 bath . we were without a shower for 18 months while i slowly installed it. and we are now without a bath as i renovate the rest of the bathroom. Bath was great after a long hard day in work when i ached so could have a "Monkey bath" ( one you go Oooh oooh oooh as you get in) and soak . showers are better in summer to cool off. new bath has a showertap fitting so best of both worlds.

Prepare for jealousy: my new shower has an illuminated "on" button on the outside. Press... it flashes while the shower warms up... stops flashing to tell you that it has warmed to the correct temperature... get in, no frightful shock of cold water! Oh, I'll go to hell, I know....

That's great. Avoids the inconvenience of having to stick your hand in to test the temperature .

Get in, turn it on, keep out of the way of the cold initial jet. Soon warms up, what's the problem with that?

Mind you it's a power shower strong enough to knock you off your feet so the hot comes through nice and quickly. You sound like son#2 whom I castigate on a regular basis for standing outside the shower waiting for it to warm up...wasting water....grrrrrr

Here for rides.
Shower for hygiene, bath for pleasure and relaxation. Sometimes, when filthy and tired, one is followed by the other.

Get yourselves a bath big enough for two, or is that a blue moon event?

Actually it heats up really quickly as it sits just over the hot water tank! I hate wasting water just like you. Also I'm a cold water swimmer so it's all bonkers really.
