I've just read a remarkably erudite article, A Brief History of Dick. Unpacking the gay subtext of Robin, the Boy Wonder.

Particularly amusing was this info box that apparently appeared on the first Batman and Robin comic. The letterer placed two words a little too close together.

The same magazine has a similar 'expose' on Wonder Woman.

I see it's been 24 years since the first openly gay comic-book superhero.

Oh, right...der!

(Re the link, me too - but if you put the title into search it comes up. As it were.)
I'm getting slow in my old age - it took me about 10 attempts to spot it!

I didn't get the joke in Dr Hutch's column in Cycling Weekly either ...

Dr Hutch said:
One rider from a local club was particularly strong.

After we reeled him back from about his 15th attack, I said to one of my team-mates, "Jesus, that number 33 is giving it a bit of stick."

"Yup," replied my team-mate. "He's a brute."
I read that over and over but couldn't see it. I asked a mate and he just said "Kevin Keegan"!

I still didn't catch on ...

"Henry Cooper"

"Nope ..."

"In the shower together..."

"What, you reckon Keegan and Cooper had a gay thing going between them?"

In the end I gave up and he explained the joke!

D'oh!

Loch side.
This reminds me a bit of the Seaman Stains and Roger the cabin boy urban legend of 1970s Captain Pugwash fame.

My money is on a little bit of photoshopping. Someone nudged the an over the to the right for a laugh. Getting hold of an original image would conform this.
