I need to replace the bbrs500 on my Croix de Fer. I’m tempted to change the groupset at the same time, but the advised BB on the groupset is listed as GXP BSA.
If I order a GXP BSA BB will it fit my BB.
Alternatively if I replace the bbrs500 with another bbrs500 would the cranks from a GXP BSA fit?

I’ve tried googling and just seem to end up with loads of adverts and not a lot of helpful information. So if anyone can help out I’d appreciate it.

BBRS500 are Shimano B.B.s. GXP are SRAM. As long as you use a British thread B.B. either will work with the crank set on your Croix de fer.

GXP cranks won’t work with the Shimano BB as the spindle is a narrower diameter on the non-drive side (22mm compared to the 24mm of Shimano cranks; both are 24mm on the drive side).

But as RR says, the GXP BB will fit in your frame as long as you choose the English-threaded 68mm version.

Marvellous, I’ll order a GXP BB to replace my grumbling BBRS500, and splash out on the new groupset (because I want it, no really good reason).

Thanks both of you for your help.
