Walked into that one.

They my is, I don’t know of anyone securing a Pro Cycling contract on Wii, yet Leah Thorvilson managed to do just that on Zwift.

Try not to worry how others think of Zwift, it’s not important.

It’s like the is-darts/chess/bridge-a-sport thing that gets people so wound up.

Not worrying about it. Just enjoying a good discussion on the topic tbh.

I like to consider what others say and challenge my own opinions. Don’t always agree mind.

Not exactly, as indoor football generally has 5 a side whilst outdoor generally has 11 a side.

Indoors on a trainer has you Cycling a bike, whilst outdoors has you Cycling a bike. Only difference being that the wheels are not in contact with the ground.
Other differences include weather, scenery, terrain, other human beings, general bike feel, ability to stop at cafes and pubs, feeling of complete freedom, downhill exhilaration, wind in your hair or scalp, fun when you whizz past stationary traffic etc

All good points in fairness. As said before, I prefer cycling outside too, but doesn’t mean that’s the only “real” cycling that exists.

Somebody may be able to afford a Bugatti Veyron, for example, but that doesn’t mean that a VW Golf isn’t a “real” car.

If I look at the virtual trainer threads on here, it's very much a part of cycling. If I occasionally glance at the leaderboards on Strava and notice that after a 90 odd mile week or a big ride, often in inclement weather, I'm only just on the board and that the top positions are all filled by indoor trainer rides, I feel a touch of resentment until of course I add a trainer ride myself, at which point it becomes fine. Such are the continuing struggles of my conscious. In the end, it's all good.

A lot of riders have became indoor cyclists only now, I can't really disagree with the idea. I havent cycled outside since september and only just getting back to cycling.

Knocked off motorbike and broke my left hand at end of June, it's still too painful to ride on hoods. No real panic to be back on the road again, nor much interest in it. (Ive considered selling my bikes and trainer to fund a wattbike atom.)
