Not sure I've tried the cherry. Standard Duchesse was my first ever sour, probably about 25 years ago now 😲, it's superb.
Duchess chocolate - absolutely awful - imagine tipping a load of balsamic vinegar into some melted Cadbury's milk chocolate and then bottling it 🤮

Never tried (or seen) the cherry before either, also have a couple of bottles of the standard on order along with a lot of other beer from here;

Ive not tried cherry Duchesse, but Ive had cherry sours/lambics before, the cherry sort of dials down the absolute funky sourness you can get, whether thats due to the more fruity smell or stronger red appearance fools your taste buds not sure, but theyre quite nice.

had the standard Duchesse before and thought it was quite nice, but sours can always be a bit hit and miss even if you like the style

Duchesse is pretty sweet to begin with, so hopefully it's proper dark cherries with a bit of bitterness to them. I've tried the Rodenbach with cherries, that was OK, but I prefer the Rodenbach Grand Cru. The lambic krieks can be lovely, that bit of juiciness, as you say, taking the edge off the sometimes severe dryness

As mentioned above was at the Ely Beer Festival yesterday, beers drank between me and the better half were;

Acorn Chocco Porter
Earl Soham Victoria Bitter
Nethergate Suffolk County and Old Growler
Iron Pier Cast Iron
Grain Slate
Roughacre Lavenham 1525
Three Blind Mice Simple Stout
Vocation Naughty and Nice.

The only one not to hit the spot was the Roughacre which was a bit thin for a proper bitter.

Tonight's offerings, the Brew York/Asda is quite thin and easy to drink, it's only the sweetness that would probably stop you drinking more than a few pints.

Northern Monk, top class, this proper smashes you in the face.
