A double pilsner? AKA a very strong lager? I take it it's better than Tennant's purple tin or Carlsberg special brew....

It's funny how strong beers a very much a park bench drinking school thing, unless they're Belgian, when they're very sophisticated.....

Tennant's Super at 9%?

When I was around 18 years old 4 cans of that made me projectile on new year's eve. 🤣

I used to like Tennant's Extra in the black cans, quite quaffable at around 5%.

They're for Flanders, mainly. And Roubaix. There are 12 Chimay Dorée, 12 Val Dieu blonde and 6 Maredsous blonde - which are vital if you're going to drink Belgian beer all day as they're from 4.8 to 6.5%

I've also got loads of Duvel, Orval and other bits and bobs in the spare room....

I need to sort some beer out for Flanders myself but left it too late to order the good stuff, so Ill probably end up with Leffe

Where do you order from?

Well I live in Copenhagen, so a Danish beer shop, so definitely not very useful in the Scottish borders!

Choice of shop was due to the Val Dieu blonde and Chimay Dorée, have had a little trouble sourcing them recently. We're always short of lighter Belgian beers and don't want to start with Duvel at 11am, so I got a bulk order in.... Couldn't find anyone in DK with Curtius Classic , a microbrewery from outside Liege - will order something from Belgium for LBL I think.... Also looking for a reliable source of Westmalle Extra which is 4,8%. (the monks used to keep it for themselves and sell the heavy stuff)

Williams Bros are one of my favourite breweries but I've never tried their dark stuff, whenever I go over the border for work, which isn't that often there days, I always stop at Tesco in Lockerbie on the way back to stock up on Double Joker.

And if I'm really lucky it's Sainsbury's in East Kilbride as well, they have a better range so I can usually get some Juice Tyger and Tinman in there.

March of the penguins is stocked at Sainsburys in Edinburgh and Kelso at a decent price - recommended.
