I spent a fantastic few hours sat by the side of The Ridgeway yesterday, in the blazing sun, drinking beers from a ‘nano’ brewery that puts on a ‘tap yard’ event every so often. There is no yard, just a tressle table, some kegs and the verge of Europe’s oldest road to sit on. They had four beers on, very diverse in nature and of excellent quality.

They are a 7 mile ride from my house along the Ridgeway. I took a small chair and sat in the sun drinking beer.

One of the nicest beers I have had, you wouldn't want too many at 10% though!

I'm pretty sure it's only brewed when there's a Full Moon hence the picture, I had one last summer in Montreuil sur Mer after the TdF had passed thru the town.
As you said ... Delicious 😋

Looked it up and you are correct, they still only brew once a month, apparently there is something on the label where you can identify which full moon it was brewed under.

Can you guess what this tastes of, I didn't have a clue so went to Tiny Rebel's website which says watermelon and strawberries.

It's horrible, I managed a few mouthfuls before handing it to my lad who said it's alright, with the kind of look on his face that suggests he's just being polite.

I think I've posted this before but it's so good I'm doing it again.

Dry, roasty, and bitter, it's top class.

I've only ever seen it every now and then in Asda, but it's now appeared in my local Tesco.

Last night's offering, 10% and it tasted it, overly malty and too strong tasting for me.

For some reason the La Trappe beers leave me unconvinced. The blonde always seems a little flat, and the quad a bit one-dimensional

Anyway, for Belgian beer enthusiasts, the CAMRA Good Beer Guide to Belgium has a 9th edition about to be released and is available for pre-order. My copy is from 2002 and I suspect a few things may have changed since then.....

https://shop1.camra.org.uk/product/good-beer-guide-belgium-9th-edition-2026/

And if you're going to be in Brugge or Antwerp, one of the contributors has free apps for each of those (and London, Amsterdam, Prague...), the Brugge one has just been updated

only had the quad La Trappe and didnt rate it that much for a 10% beer so it cant have been good

and Ive got the 7th and 8th editions, so I might as well add the 9th to the libray, problem is I never get around to booking a holiday over there to actually use them.
