As a good truck driver should, I use both satnav and maps. Admittedly my satnav is not HGV specific so won't warn you about low bridges, so I have a truckers map for those. I'm only a part time HGV driver so I'm not going to be forking out the stupid money they want for an HGV satnav.
I find a satnav handy for getting you to a specific street in a town; but for planning longer distance routes I will use a map. Maps are also much better for finding your way around road closures and the multitude of hold ups you tend to come across on a daily basis.

I do as well, I had to have a quick flick through each one before I binned them.
Is it too late to get them out of the bin? They are very saleable on gumtree. We sold all ours and went out for a meal on the proceeds.

...............I used to argue with Mrs D a bit (especially when I saw her turning an atlas upside down).
Why did this upset you? Some people don't find it as easy as other people to turn a map in their head. I'm a map turner, for instance, and I also hate using sat nav if it's consistently pointing north (on the other hand, if I am route plotting, I prefer to leave north upwards and any other orientation confuses me. That's on a paper map or an electronic one.

Actually just to qualify that, it wasn't so much the orientation of the map, it was just that it was a signal that she sort of lost track a bit and was quickly trying to figure out where we were. It was meant a little tongue in cheek

Them were the days of the street map , drive five streets and stop , re check , another five and stop , then turn and stop , re check , drive and stop. it used to take almost as long to find the street once you were within 1 mile than the 20 miles it took to get there in the first place.
I still have a case full of them in the loft, and they are staying there.

Am I the only one who doesn't have sat nav nowadays?

I'm not anti-sat nav, just very rarely need to find specific addresses in large towns while driving so never felt the need to buy one.

I still cycle with an O.S. map in my bag just in case
