If you ever go to Doddington in Northumbelrand, have some Doddington Dairy ice-cream... scrumtiious ;)
You can buy it outside where they make it, and just leave your cash in an honesty box
Must be sold further afield than Thumberland, but I'm not sure... lovely stuff

In the bit of Thumberland I lived in had a local Italian Ice Cream Maker and he had a van that came round the local town. *thinks* Arnone.. It was delicious.

there's an ice-cream maker local to Preston - Barnes of Elswick I think. Wonderful locally made stuff and just the ticket after riding 15-odd miles to the stand on a fine summer's evening (we had a few last year IIRC)

Ben and Jerry's leave me cold (ho ho): I don't like the silly names or their odd nature and especially the mixture of ruthlessness and utter smugness of the founders . Beware of ex-hippies turned capitalists.

Gone right off B&J's, which used to be my favourite. Most of the bestest flavours are only available locally as Frozen Yogurt varieties nowadays and it just don't taste the same. Plus I've never managed to forgive them fully for axing One Sweet Whirled. That was my favourite, you bastids! ;)
