Pro4's here. SC in the summer and Endurance in the winter. I like GP4000S II, but for almost double the price of the Michelins I'll stick with Pro4's.

I've got GP 4000sII on one road bike, and GP 4 seasons on the other one. The 4000sII's stick to the road like merde to a blanket, and are very nice rolling, I've hit some sharp stuff, and not had a puncture. The GP 4 seasons, move standing water better, they are a little more draggy, but equally bomb proof. The GP 4 seasons are slightly less expensive, and are a bit harder wearing as well.

I like and use tyres from the Michelin Pro4 range, I think they're great. I've used the Service Course and Endurance and find the latter a bit more hard wearing.

I used Gatorskins for a couple of thousand miles, I don't think you can say they don't 'roll' well but they sure do skid and slide very easily, which is why I got rid of them.
Agree about what you say about Gatorskins. I use them because they actually live up to their promise of not getting punctures unless you physically insert a nail into them yourself. Rolling resistance doesn't feel much worse than the Vittoria Zaffiro cheese tyres which I used to have which would start to fall apart after only a few hundred miles and puncture all the time.

However as you say Gatorskins offer very little grip, especially in the wet when you have to be very careful over slippery surfaces. I can even get my rear wheel to spin out when it is damp and I pull off from the lights with my weight too far forward.

Also look at Schwalbe One. I find them just as good as GP4000s but significantly cheaper.

How long do the Schwalbe ones last ?, I could wear out the old Ultremo in a 1000 miles so the Gp4000s worked out a lot cheaper per mile even though they were more expensive, I get 2-3000 miles out the Gp4000s btw.

My current set are on a 2k with quite a bit of life left, I would say they are very much on par with the 4000s. I picked up a new pair from Merlin at £20 each just a week or so ago, so pence per mile the Ones win by far.

Sounds like they are better than the Ultremos , thought they might just be rebadged but the Ones are a bit heavier , I only pay £25 each for the Gp4000s so not much more expensive .

Thats a cracking price.

I found conti 4000s and other GranPrix a bit weak on the sidewalls. Found the Mitchelin Kylion (Now Pro 4 Endurance) better all rounders at this time of year and regularly a lot cheaper. I run SC4s on my best bike also and they seem very comparable to the conti on performance and touch wood better on the p'ture/ side wall performance.

GP4 seasons, they do wear out quickly if used in earnest through the winter grime however. I just stick with wire bead Gatorskins and enjoy the relative ease of riding GP4000's in the summer.
